Community Planning Series for

Pandemic Influenza Preparedness

With a focus on preparing for the next influenza pandemic, the Center for Hazards Research and Policy Development at the University of Louisville, KY developed a field-tested introductory planning guide and curriculum for a self-facilitated Community Planning Series for Pandemic Influenza Preparedness.  Four half-day sessions in length, the intent of the Planning Series is to provide local preparedness professionals with a mix-and-match planning process chock full of information, resources, and educational tools that will assist with efforts to simultaneously develop a community (external) strategy and organizational (internal) plans for an influenza pandemic.

The Planning Series is composed of four (4) sessions:

Session 1.  Preparing to Plan

Session 2.  Steps to Develop Your Plan

Session 3.  Multi-Sector Communications Planning

Session 4.  Maintaining Your Plan

This website provides the facilitator lesson plans for each of the four (4) sessions.  We suggest beginning your exploration of this site by browsing the "User Tutorial" to see if this curriculum will be a good fit for your community's needs.
